Intentions setting the tone for the day

What keeps me devoted to wedding photography is not only what a couple wears. It is the way they look at one another, the ease of their connection, and the romantic images that happen when they are fully present together.

Deeper meaning

At this wedding at Belle Ame in Riverfalls, WI, time carried a deeper meaning. The bride’s mother had only a short amount of time left to live, and I knew the photographs needed to hold more than the beauty of the day. They needed to preserve her presence, her expressions, and the connection between her and the people she loved. I focused on creating images that were intentional and deeply meaningful - not simply extra photographs from the morning, but memories that would become more valuable with every passing year.

Forever Worthy

Rain kept us inside that morning, changing the rhythm of the day and bringing everyone a little closer together. Then, just in time for the ceremony, the clouds cleared. The vineyard opened beneath the light, and by sunset, the couple moved between playful and elegant - completely themselves, surrounded by the beauty of the place and the emotion of everything they had just experienced.

That is what I look for in every wedding: not only what is beautiful in the moment, but what will matter ten, thirty, or fifty years from now. While a couple is busy being at the center of everything, I am paying attention to the moments they may not see - the way a parent looks at them, the touch of a hand, the quiet exchanges, and the people who make the day meaningful. My work is guided by the question I would ask for myself: If this were my wedding, what would I want to remember about the people I love? The answer is always more than what is trending. It is the story, the connection, and the photographs that allow a family to feel the day again.
